    Phase Hybrid AF for aggressive shooting
    
    The most important thing in autofocus is to be dependable. The new Phase Hybrid AF delivers speed and accuracy to help you capture the target subject even in the most challenging scenes where multiple subjects are involved, and even in backlit or low-light environments.

    779-point AF
    The number of AF points has been increased to 779. The improved tracking performance allows the camera to continue to capture even small subjects that are easily out of focus. Even when using 1-Area AF, the AF frame can be set as small as pinpoint level, helping the creator focus on the subject as intended.

    AI-based recognition technology
    Deep Learning technology enables high-speed, high-precision recognition and tracking of humans (face, eyes, heads, and bodies) and animals (dogs, cats, and birds).

    6.5-stop Dual I.S. 2 (Image Stabilizer)
    5-axis Dual I.S. 2 (Image Stabilizer) combines control of the B.I.S. and Lens O.I.S. to offer 6.5 stops’ worth of correction.*

    New Active I.S. lets you walk and shoot at the same time. By determining the status of camera shake and optimizing correction ratios, Active I.S. can compensate for even significant camera shake, approximately 200%* more than conventional systems.

    Heat management for unlimited recording time
    
    4:2:2 10-bit C4K 4K 60p 50p unlimited recording time.* With a compact body equivalent to the S5, the LUMIX S5II’s new optimized heat dissipation structure enables extended recording even when shooting at heavy loads (e.g. high-resolution video over 4K, HFR video).
    *The camera may stop recording when used in a temperature that is lower or higher than the recommended operating temperature (0 to 40 degrees). Recording stops when the continuous recording time exceeds 30 minutes in [6K 29.97p] [6K 25.00p] [5.9K 29.97p] [5.9K 25.00p] when Thermal Management mode is set to Standard.

    The new engine delivers more true-to-life colors, finer resolution, and a natural three-dimensional effect, and combined with Dual Native ISO technology, effectively suppresses noise even when shooting at ultra-high sensitivities, beautifully rendering even dark areas.

    24.2MP CMOS sensor with Dual Native ISO technology
    Whether you are taking stills or shooting video, the LUMIX S5II delivers uncompromising image quality, combining high resolution and a Phase Detection AF. Moreover, utilizing Dual Native ISO technology familiar to users of Panasonic Varicam models for professionals, the S5II leverages a dual-base ISO setting to minimize noise and maximize image quality from low to high sensitivity. This feature teams up with a new engine to deliver maximum ISO 51200 Extended ISO 204800 for minimal noise at high sensitivity and beautiful expression of dark areas in the frame. Whenever professional-level low-light shooting is required, the LUMIX S5II is ready for action.

    Next-generation engine
    The new engine delivers approximately twice the processing power as before, enabling high-speed processing of higher-resolution, higher bit-rate video. It is equipped with technology invested and developed jointly by LEICA and LUMIX. Combination of the new sensor and engine achieves both Phase Detection AF and high image quality for photos and videos.

    14+ stops of V-Log and V-Gamut VariCam Look
    Offering compatibility with Cinema VariCam Look, 14+ stops of dynamic range, and a very wide color spectrum, V-Log and V-Gamut come preinstalled. Users will enjoy impressively accurate color reproduction, subtle gradations from dark areas to highlights, and precise control of color data in post-production. The end result is more creative and satisfying color expression. Moreover, footage shot with the LUMIX S5II can be seamlessly edited with footage shot with VariCam cameras.
    The V-Log of the LUMIX S5II offers 14+ stops of dynamic range, which covers the PQ requirement of HDR, while V-Gamut covers the full HDR color spectrum, giving users access to HDR shooting wherever, whenever.

    RAW video data output (optional)
    The Upgrade Software Key DMW SFU2 (sold separately) and LUMIX S5II firmware upgrade* enable the output of maximum 29.97p 5.9K (5888×3312, 16:9) 59.94p 4.1K (4128×2176, 17:9) and 3.5K (3536×2656, 4:3) 12 bit RAW video data over HDMI to be recorded on the Atomos Ninja V+ HDR monitor recorder.

    Extended battery life: USB power supply
    Compatible with USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C, allowing you to shoot while charging at high speed, convenient during long shoots in the studio or elsewhere. The battery can be charged while supplying power to the camera* when used in combination with USB Power Delivery standard compliant battery charger model DMW-BTC15 (sold separately).

    Double SD card slot for flexible data management
    Both SD card slots are UHS-II SDXC card compatible. Relay Recording allows relays recording between memory cards when the initial card becomes full during recording. Backup Recording allows the same data to be recorded to both cards at the same time. Allocation Record mode allows you to specify the card slot to be used for recording still photographs and video.*

    Smart connectivity via Wi-Fi® 5GHz bands (IEEE802.11ac) and Bluetooth® v5.0 (Low Energy) for easy remote control. Panasonic s LUMIX Sync app for Android iOS allows you to customize shooting settings, including remote shutter release. Updating camera firmware and copying settings to multiple cameras is also simple via LUMIX Sync.*

    Intuitive operation
    
    The intuitive, well-calculated layout and 8-directional joystick allow you to select the focus area intuitively with simple, one-thumb operation for speedy shooting.

    Viewfinder for excellent color reproduction
    The 3,680k-dot 0.78x live view finder uses a highly responsive, easy-to-see OLED display to capture even fast-moving subjects in fine detail. In addition, the high contrast display (approx. 10,000:1) presents the subject with fine gradations and high clarity throughout.

    High outdoor visibility free-angle monitor
    LUMIX S5II features a 1840k-dot 3.0-inch LCD. With outstanding brightness and a wide color gamut, it offers high visibility for outdoor shoots. Its free-angle touch screen makes it easy to compose high- and low-angle shots, further adding to the convenience and flexibility of the camera.

    Intuitive operation
    The intuitive, well-calculated layout and the 8-directional joystick, with all shooting buttons concentrated on the right side and the most frequently used buttons, such as the joystick, within reach of the thumb, allow for intuitive operation. The focus area can be intuitively selected with a touch of the thumb. This allows you to take pictures quickly and easily while keeping your focus on the subject.

    Versatility

    System Frequency
    To support global video production, three different system frequencies can be selected: 59.94Hz (NTSC), 50.00Hz (PAL), or 24.00Hz (CINEMA).

    Frame Marker
    The frame marker is useful when vertical horizontal cropping in post production is anticipated. Displayable aspect ratio frames include 2.39:1 and 2.35:1 for cinema and 1:1 and 4:5 for social media, providing a total of 10 patterns to select from.

    Vertical video shooting
    The camera detects the vertical orientation of video, so the image will rotate automatically when you play it back on your smartphone or other device. This can be turned ON or OFF.

    Focus Ring Control
    If used in combination with the LUMIX S Series lens, you can control the focus ring according to your feel. Select between NONLINEAR, in which acceleration is applied according to the rotation speed, and LINEAR, which enables focusing with a fixed amount according to the rotation angle. Because the rotation angle can be set with LINEAR, intuitive and accurate focusing is possible in the same way as the equipment you are used to.
